Routine service can be performed using common hand tools, without disconnecting the piping. All Super U Series® pumps can be coupled to a standard electric motor, eliminating the need for special motor parts.

The Super U Series® is a self-priming centrifugal pump from Gorman-Rupp, designed for applications that require both high efficiency and reliable solid handling capability. Common applications include municipal wastewater, industrial process duties, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and general liquid transfer involving fluids with solids. Thanks to its self-priming design, the pump can be installed above the liquid being pumped, which simplifies maintenance and inspection.
The Super U Series® is available in discharge sizes from 1.5″ (40 mm) to 12″ (300 mm). Depending on the model and configuration, the pump delivers a maximum flow rate of up to 1,500 GPM (342 m³/h) and a maximum head of up to 208′ (63 m). Actual performance depends on the selected version (A or B), operating speed, and application conditions. Refer to the pump curves for the correct duty point.
The A version offers the highest efficiency because the liquid enters directly into the eye of the impeller. A victaulic collar couples the removable suction spool flange to the removable cover plate for service access.
The B version is dimensionally interchangeable with the Super T Series® (suction and discharge dimensions) and features a removable cover plate with easy-grip handle and pusher bolt capability, providing quick access to the impeller, wear plate, and seal without disconnecting piping.
The Super U Series® achieves efficiencies up to 75%, driven by a unique volute casing design that minimises friction loss combined with a multi-vane open impeller. This level of efficiency directly impacts energy consumption and lifecycle cost of the installation. Importantly, the pump also performs efficiently across a broad operating range, meaning efficiency does not drop significantly when loads vary and the pump operates away from its best efficiency point (BEP).
The Super U Series® handles solids up to 1¼” (32 mm) in diameter. The multi-vane open impeller is constructed of ductile iron and is designed for reliable solids passage. For applications involving larger solids or fibrous materials such as wipes and rags, the Super T Series® with the Eradicator® Solids Management System is an alternative.
The patented external shimless adjustment allows the clearance between the impeller and wear plate to be adjusted externally, without realigning belts, couplings, or other drive components, and without disturbing the mechanical seal position. This design doubles the life of the impeller and wear plate while keeping the pump operating at peak efficiency. The adjusting collar locks in place after adjustment, maintaining the clearance setting even if the cover plate is removed.
The Super U Series® comes standard with an exclusive double-floating, self-aligned, oil-lubricated mechanical cartridge seal with stationary and rotating faces of silicon carbide. This seal is specifically designed for rugged and abrasive service conditions. Additional seal configurations are available upon request.
Yes. On the B version, the removable cover plate with easy-grip handle provides direct access to the impeller, wear plate, and mechanical seal without disconnecting suction or discharge piping. The complete rotating assembly (shaft, bearings, seal) can also be removed by taking out four bolts from the back of the pump, without disturbing the pump casing or piping. Service can be performed using common hand tools, even in confined work spaces.
The Super U Series® is available as a basic unit ready for connection to power, or flex-coupled or V-belt driven by an electric motor. V-belt driven configurations offer flexibility in speed selection and typically provide maximum operating speed for the required head and capacity without needing to trim the impeller. All models can be coupled to a standard IEC motor. The Super U Series® can also be part of a ReliaSource® above-ground packaged pumping station, pre-assembled and factory tested.

Yes. Thanks to its self-priming design, the Super U Series® can be installed above ground, making it well suited for dry-installed pump stations. This simplifies maintenance, inspection, and monitoring. For permanent installations, the Super U Series® can also be deployed as part of a ReliaSource® modular pumping station with a self-cleaning sump system, pre-assembled and factory tested.
